Kelsy Karter & The Heroines Make It To Los Angeles

los angeles, california — March 6th, 2025

Kelsy Karter & The Heroines are resilient rock and rollers. After facing enormous setbacks—starting with a visa fraud scheme that resulted in the band losing thousands and being unable to enter the country, followed by the devastating wildfires that shut down so much of Los Angeles— the band was determined to make it to their fans. Despite these obstacles and two forced reschedulings, on March 6th they made it to the stage of The Roxy to close out the USA leg of their LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE WORLD TOUR.

When the curtain finally rose, the screams from the crowd echoed just how eagerly they had been anticipating this moment. Karter began the show at her keyboard, a single note barely audible over the sound of the crowd before the band launched into “Are You Entertained?”, an operatic rock anthem that kicks off their most recent album, ‘Love Made Me Do It

From the start, Karter’s raw, unapologetic persona and stage presence stood out as a highlight of the night. She found every opportunity to interact with fans, jumping into the crowd and not shying away from vulnerable moments. At one point, she shared that her intention for the new album had been to show that “rock and roll is just as delicate as it is impressive.” It was clear how perfectly they hit the mark as they effortlessly shifted between gritty rock anthems and delicate ballads.

One touching moment of the night came during her performance of “Wild,” as she abandoned the stage to stand in the crowd and dedicate the song to long-time love Adam Slack of The Struts. She serenaded Slack, who performed as an opener with his acoustic set earlier that night, in the same spot where they locked eyes for the first time years ago. Clearly, this show was meant for The Roxy— a venue that not only contributed to Karter’s story but was also perfect for the straight-from-the-eighties style of The Heroines.

The nostalgia continued as Karter introduced “Harry”, a once-controversial track from 2019. The song had Karter gushing about none other than Harry Styles who she, in a viral stunt, had “tattooed” on her face. The track holds up even today, and Karter smiled saying this song would always have a special place in her heart… and on her cheek.

It was the small moments that showed how much fun Karter and the band have on stage. The chemistry between the band is undeniable—from playful jests to synchronized performances, we could all see they enjoyed every second of playing together. One funny moment came when Karter and bassist Tommy Gent bantered during the introduction to "Cover You". Gent struggled to find a family-friendly way to explain his inspiration for writing the song before Karter interrupted, teasingly exclaiming that it was, “about sex,” which had the crowd erupting in laughter.

By the end, Kelsy Karter & The Heroines had proven they are a force to be reckoned with. The band isn’t just keeping rock and roll alive—they’re making it their own. The Heroines aren’t afraid to bear it all, and most importantly, will be stopped by nothing in their pursuit to keep us entertained.

If you’re in Europe, be sure to catch them live starting in April. In the meantime, listen to their latest album on Spotify: Love Made Me Do It
