Bayside Brings "The Worse Things Than Being Alive Tour" To House of Blues

Chicago, il - April 29th, 2024

This past Monday, New York's very own Bayside came to Chicago's world famous House of Blues with special guests and emo legends Finch and Armor for Sleep, as well as recently signed pop-punk newcomers Winona Fighter, to bring an unforgettable night of emo music to a packed room of 1,800 fans.

Being a huge fan of emo music myself, I was very excited to see how all of these bands translate live. I knew right of the bat that I was in the prescence of seasoned road veterans. Coincedentally, prior to this show I was reading "Where Are Your Boys Tonight" by Chris Payne, a book featuring the complete history of emo music as we know it, which also includes interviews with members from Bayside and Finch. So I was able to brush up on my history of both bands and get to know their story a little better before the show. Bayside has seen it all. They've dealt with the passing of band members, shady record deals, among many other road troubles throughout their 2 decade run, with Bayside's lead vocalist Anthony Raneri explicitly mentioning how they've been a band for 24 years now. And the performance they gave that night showed it. To say the band sounded tight would be an understatement.

The band knocked through their 21 song setlist with ease, playing songs spanning across 8 of their albums, being sure to include tracks from their latest release; "There Are Worse Things Than Being Alive" which released at the beginning of April of this year. Bayside proved themselves to still be alive and well despite it all. Giving fans a monumental performance in one of Chicago's most iconic concert halls.
