As you have most people have already heard, the city of Los Angeles is on fire. On January 7th, 2025, barely a week since the start of the new year, multiple fires broke out in different L.A. neighborhoods. These fires spread quickly into other areas, resulting in a total of thirty fires breaking out over the span of a week. As of today, twenty-five of those fires have been contained. While this is exceptional news, there are still five major fires that are still spreading; these remaining fires have burnt a combined total of 38,693 acres. Within these acres are thousands of residential homes, local businesses, medical centers, and other important neighborhood infrastructures which has left thousands of people without homes and belongings. Entire lives have been burnt within minutes, as well as decades of memories.

Following this devastating natural disasters, multiple awards shows have postponed or cancelled their nomination ceremonies and general ceremonies to donate to those in need and allow attention to stay on these major losses. The Critics Choice Awards, Oscar Nominations and Voting, and the Writers Guild of America Nominations are the three biggest delays and postponements that have impacted this award season. The Grammy’s are still planned to happen on February 2nd, but many popular after parties and concerts have been cancelled. Major labels, including Warner Music Group and Sony Music have cancelled their famous Grammy parties, with WMG declaring that they are donating one million dollars to the relief efforts.

It seems that the highly anticipated 2025 awards season has been completely halted while L.A. citizens and celebrities work to salvage whatever they can from the ashes and debris left behind by the fires. There are many ways to help, from donating money, clothes, masks, and other survival necessities to just spreading the word and sharing relief funds. We’ve attached some below.
