It's "Killing Time" for Movements as they play a sold out show in Chicago

Chicago, Illinois - September 30, 2023

Movements, a post-hardcore band from Orange County California, made their way to Chicago for a sold-out show at The Concord Music Hall. The quartet is made up of Patrick Miranda (lead vocals), Ira George (lead guitar), Austin Cressey (bass guitar), and Spencer York (drums). The band was also supported on their U.S. tour by opening acts Mannequin Pussy, Softcult, and Heart of Gold who all brought their expertise and charm to the stage warming up the crowd endlessly before movements graced the stage.

Opening with a bang and inviting their audience into their inner circle, Movements opened their set with You’re One Of Us Now, a track off their new album RUCKUS!. The track offers a unique production intro reminiscent of an audience chanting which sets the scene of the night perfectly. The band continued on through their set embracing the energy in the room and supporting the fans there screaming every word back to them.

The Concord was vibrating through the night, fans could feel every beat in the floorboards bouncing back up at them as the night came full circle. With gratitude, Movements prepared a setlist packed with tracks from every project they’ve put out to date. The band celebrated their most recent album which came out back in mid-August 2023 by playing a good handful of songs from said project, but they also managed to save room for a few from their previous 2020 album No Good Left To Give, 2017 album Feel Something, and 2012 EP Outgrown Things.

A personal highlight of the night was when the band paused to create the space to perform a special acoustic track, Fever Dream off their first album, in its truest form unlike how they have played it live in the past. The band could feel the audience’s admiration as they sang along to every word of the heartfelt and sad tune. As lead singer, Patrick Miranda introduced the song I ran to the back of the venue to stand on a ledge against the wall to take in the moment as much as I possibly could. It is not always common to come to a hardcore genre show and get to feel so in sync with a crowd where everyone in the building is standing still or just slightly swaying with the people next to them absorbing the music in its fullest capacity. It truly is magic.

The night closed with the classic fan favorite track Daylily as the stage turned a soft shade of pink and cell phone lights went up. The band reminded the audience that this was indeed their last song and that they would return to Chicago as soon as possible as it is one of their favorite cities to play for. As the last lyric of the song rang out through the audience, “I think its time you found another reason to stay for a while”, the band members each threw a setlist out into the crowd and took one last look out on the sold-out Concord and waved goodbye.
