Thomas Headon put on an entertaining & charming performance “down in ‘Florida’”

orlando, florida - october 2, 2023

The crowd roared, chanted, and even howled as the spotlight shone, house lights came down, and Thomas Headon stepped onto the House of Blues Orlando stage. 23-year-old British singer-songwriter Thomas Headon brought his charm and good-feely music to Florida to hype the crowd up for headliner Half-Alive. His nine-song set started with his classic, fun indie pop hit “How Do I Know” from his 2022 EP Victoria. This introduction was a great way to set the mood for his performance, reflecting his effortlessly cool tone in his songs and easily getting the crowd to bop along to the beat.

Throughout his set, Headon played a mix of songs from his recent EP release, six songs that thomas headon likes and thinks you would like too, to songs from his first EP back from 2020, The Greatest Hits. To keep the crowd engaged, Headon even sprinkled in some Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana covers to get people singing along.

While his performance was incredible, his stage presence was even more palpable. In less than an hour, the crowd was laughing and shouting along to his antics. From pulling out Mickey Mouse ears (in the spirit of being in the home of Disney World) to making everyone throw up hand-horns for “Best of Both Worlds,” Headon breezed through his set list while interacting with the crowd.

Between songs and covers and Mickey Mouse ears, there was a quick trivia with a great, whopping reward of $1 for whoever got the question right: When was Walt Disney World opened? In case you were wondering, 1971. Everyone walked away that night with a new favorite artist and some knowledge gained.

Returning to his roots for his song “Butterflies” off his first EP, Headon had the crowd turn to those on their left and right and hug them. He recited the chorus, teaching people to sing along, creating an inclusive atmosphere. His sense of humor and charisma made it a refreshing concert experience full of laughter, singing, and dancing.

Though Florida is no “Georgia,” he expressed his love for the crowd and the opportunity to be playing on the stage. Playing in a packed venue in a state you’ve never visited before can be daunting, but Headon handled it with grace - despite some technical difficulties. The effort he made to connect with the crowd did not go unnoticed, and he managed to do so while putting on an unforgettable performance.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to catch Thomas Headon live, I wholeheartedly recommend making an effort to go out and see him if you can.
