Flipturn Headlines St. Louis for the First Time on the Burnout Days Tour
st. louis, mo — march 19, 2025
Flipturn hit the stage at The Hawthorn in St. Louis this past Wednesday for a night filled with great indie rock tunes. Following the January release of their album ‘Burnout Days,’ the BURNOUT DAYS tour was highly anticipated in this Midwest metropolis. A line around the block before doors, a never-ending merch queue, and a buzzing crowd of Flipturn fans set the tone for what type of energy this show was going to bring.
The five-piece began their set with “Juno,” sparking an intense liveliness in the concert hall. Being their first time headlining in St. Louis, there was a lot of musical ground to cover. Flipturn jammed through fan favorites from previous releases like “Sad Disco” and “August,” and new tunes from their new album, such as tour namesake “Burnout Days,” “Moon Rocks,” and “Window.” This setlist was everything; not one single word can describe it. It was dreamy, nostalgic, upbeat, emotional, rich, and energetic—all at once. They have created a special, recognizable sound over the years, and you could see how deeply the crowd resonated with that. From frontman Dillon Basse’s striking vocals, to powerful beats and basslines, to the vulnerability in the lyrics, no matter the song, there was always someone singing along.
“You’ll have plenty of opportunities to mosh during Flipturn’s set,” said Nick Mateyunas, lead vocalist of Arcy Drive, during their dynamic opening set. And man, was he right. The excitement in the room was contagious. From the moment they stepped onstage, Flipturn fed off the crowd’s energy, and vice-versa. Pair this with the band’s impressive sound, the stunning light show accompanying the music, and their undeniable chemistry with the audience, and you have yourself a night to remember. The pure devotion of their fans to immerse themselves and engage with the performance was awe-inspiring, whether through singing, dancing or anything in-between. They made sure not to let their appreciation for the St. Louis crowd go unnoticed—at one point, drummer Devon VonBalson even jumped down to the pit and played from the barricade, giving fans a truly memorable experience.
Flipturn’s BURNOUT DAYS tour takes you through the journey of their music and the hard work they put in to create their unique sound. They showed testament to this with an encore of songs from previous releases ‘Shadowglow’ and ‘Citrona,’ captivating the audience one last time with emotion, growth, and longing. The only way from here is up for Flipturn—if you haven’t had a chance to experience their sound live, I highly recommend you add it to your to-do list before the tour ends in November.
